Authentic Hawaiian Spam musubi recipe
Hawaiian Spam Musubi is a must for sushi lovers. With this simple recipe, you'll obtain the best and most authentic Spam musubi that you have ever eaten.
- 2 cups rice
- 2 cups water
- 6 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1⁄2 Cup white sugar
- 1⁄4 Cup soy sauce
- 1⁄4 Cup oyster sauce
- 1 can Spam meat
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 5 letters sushi nori
Soak uncooked rice in water to cover for 4 hours. Then, drain and rinse.
Bring water to boil in a saucepan. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
Remove pan from heat and stir in rice vinegar. Set aside to cool.
Stir together sugar, soy sauce, and oyster sauce in a bowl.
Slice luncheon meat lengthwise into 10 slices and marinate in sauce for 5 minutes.
Heat oil in a frying pan. Cook slices for two minutes on each side.
Cut nori sheets in half and lay them on a surface. Place a rice press in the centre of a sheet and press the rice.
Then, top with a slice of luncheon meat, and remove press. Wrap nori around rice and seal it.
