How to make Indian Spiced Spinach Saag Paneer
Saag Paneer is a delicious and highly nutritious Indian dish, traditionally made from spinach sautéed with spices and served with paneer - a kind of Indian cheese. This recipe serves 4 people and will only take you 45 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients
- 200 g Paneer cheese
- 500 g fresh spinach leaves
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 large tomatoes, diced
- 2 Pieces of ginger, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- salt to taste
- 2 tbls vegetable oil
- Fresh cream for garnish (optional)

Directions
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and fry the paneer cubes until they are golden brown. Remove them and set it aside.
In the same pan, add the remaining oil, cumin seeds, ginger, garlic, and green chili. Sauté until the garlic turns golden brown.
Add the finely chopped onions and let them cook until they are soft.
Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook this until the tomatoes are mushy.
Now add the spinach leaves and cook until they are wilted.
Blend this mixture into a smooth puree using a blender or a food processor.
Pour this puree back into the pan, add the paneer cubes, and let it simmer for around 5 minutes.
Garnish with fresh cream (optional) and serve hot with Indian bread (naan) or boiled rice.
