Original Chinese sweet and sour chicken recipe
If you like Chinese food, you will surely be familiar with their famous sweet and sour chicken. With this recipe, full of oriental flavours, this dish will be as good or better than in the restaurant. It will be the best you've ever tasted!
Sweet and sour chicken
- 300 g chicken breast
- 2 egg
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Chinese wine
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 clove garlic
- 1⁄2 onion
- corn flour
Sweet and sour sauce
- 150 ml water
- 30 g ketchup
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 15 g brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon corn flour
Put the egg in a bowl and beat it. Add the chopped chicken and add a pinch of salt.
Add the spoonful of white wine and the soya. Mix well.
Add and coat all this with a generous amount of cornflour and mix well. Put in the freezer to allow the dough to rest.
Put all the sauce ingredients, except the cornflour, in a frying pan. Heat while stirring frequently. Leave to thicken for about 10 minutes and set aside.
Remove the chicken breasts from the freezer. Remove the excess cornflour and fry in plenty of very hot oil until golden brown.
In a large frying pan, add a drizzle of oil. Heat over medium heat and add the chopped garlic clove.
Add the peppers, onion and a small amount of salt. Mix everything well and cook for 3 more minutes.
Add the sweet and sour sauce and a teaspoon of cornflour, dissolved in 10 ml of water. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes more, stirring constantly.
